MONOGAMIA: TERMINÁVEL OU INTERMINÁVEL?

Résumé

An essay analysis is proposed on the dissolution of the hegemonic pattern of monogamy, considering the influence of this discourse on contemporary subjectivities, including that of psychoanalysts. Departing from the contributions of Karen Horney and Heinz Lichtenstein we demonstrate how psychoanalysis can contribute to the understanding of a social phenomenon that manifests itself in the clinic as a choice of love arrangement. The notions of identity and fidelity help us to reflect on what is at stake in these choices and how analysts, given the characteristics of their background and historical insertion, can listen the discontent present in relationship modalities, such as polyamory, free love and monogamy. We conclude considering the need for a disposition to question the identities of these professionals, without losing sight of the creative dimension.
